Nanjing, with over 2,500 years of urban history, is renowned as the "‌Ancient Capital of Six Dynasties‌" and "‌Capital of Ten Regimes‌." It served as the capital of Eastern Wu, Eastern Jin, Song, Qi, Liang, and Chen of the Southern Dynasties, Southern Tang, Ming Dynasty, Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and the Republic of China, fostering the unique “‌Jinling Culture‌.”

The memory of the ‌Nanjing Massacre‌ remains profound. Since 2014, a ‌National Memorial Ceremony‌ is held annually on December 13th. During the 2025 ceremony, approximately 8,000 representatives participated in moments of silence, bell-tolling, and other commemorative activities. Currently, only ‌24 registered survivors‌ remain.
